- Figure Based Portraiture -

My style is best defined as realistic figure based portraiture, and the technique I use is essentially a mixture of image stitching and rotoscoping. It's a technique that allows me to pay attention to the smallest details in a persons shape, which gives the final image a uniquely realistic shape.
A frequently asked question is if I can include an eyes/nose/mouth onto my portraits. The short answer is a no. I decided a while ago that adding those features onto the figures takes away from the silhouette of the person I'm drawing, in addition to the fact that noses and mouths look very unpleasant in a minimalist style like this, in my opinion.
I've always liked this style because it puts more emphasis on the posture and personality of the person I'm drawing. Anyone can identify a face, but a silhouette is more interesting to define and identify.
Below and above are a handful of commissions or personal portraits that I've created, of either real people, or characters from some of my favorite films.
